Senior Bowl; Shrine roster additions

January 10, 2017

Senior Bowl, Shrine star games add players … The Senior Bowl has announced the addition of 12 more players for this month’s game including Mississippi State OT Justin Senior; DEs Ike Rochell of Notre Dame and Derek Rivers of FCS Youngstown State; DTs Chris Wormley of Michigan, and USC’s Stevie Tu’ikolovatu; ILBs Ben Boulware of national champion Clemson, Florida’s Alex Anzalone, Ben Gedeon of Michigan, Connor Harris of FCS Lindenwood and Harvey Langi of BYU; Houston OLB Tyus Bowser; and Michigan CB Jourdan Lewis. The latest additions to the Senior Bowl’s acceptance list brings the number of announced players to be in Mobile later this month to 104. The Senior Bowl will likely announce any Alabama players who have accepted invites next week to complete the roster. The Senior Bowl has also reportedly invited Clemson QB DeShaun Watson, the MVP of last night’s national championship game. Watson is a junior but will be eligible because he has graduated. Watson has reportedly yet to reply, but the guessing here is that after the CFP title game, he’ll take a pass. The Senior Bowl is scheduled for January 28th with practises scheduled to start on the 24th. Meanwhile, the East-West Shrine game, which gets underway next week in St. Petersburg has added 8 players including ILBs Hardy Nickerson of Illinois and Mississippi State’s Richie Brown; OLBs Jimmy Gilbert of Colorado and Arizona’s Paul Magliore; South Carolina DE Darius English; OTs Will Holden of Vanderbilt and Erik Austell of Charleston Southern and Samford WR Karel Hamilton. Practises for the Shrine game start next Monday with the actual game set for January 21st.
