Selection order shuffle looming … College football, which had its own terrific slate of games this weekend, still didn’t have much on the NFL which has its own very compelling schedule this week. In particular, there are four championship quality match-ups in the NFL on Sunday, one in each window. Miami and Kansas City kick it off at 9:30 AM ET tomorrow morning with a game in Europe; then at 1 PM Seattle plays at Baltimore with Dallas and Philadelphia renewing NFC East acquaintances in a late afternoon encounter and Buffalo and Cincinnati wrapping things up on the Sunday night game. And with so many of the top teams in the league going head to head it figures that the teams at the other end of the spectrum are also playing each other. Indeed, there are a half dozen or so games matching up teams with .500 records or less on this week’s Sunday afternoon schedule. The big exception is 1-7 Arizona, which would have had the #1 pick in the upcoming draft if it were held this past week, playing at Cleveland (4-3). To make matters worse for the Cardinals, it appears Browns’ QB DeShaun Watson will be back behind center this week, while the Cardinals will reportedly start rookie Clayton Tune at QB, not Kyler Murray who is reportedly finally healthy after spending the past ten months rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered late last season. Meanwhile, #2 Carolina (1-6), whose pick belongs to Chicago, will be hosting #7 Indianapolis (3-5), while Chicago (2-6), which also has the the third pick overall – its own – will be at 4-4 New Orleans. Elsewhere, the Giants (2-6), who would have had the 4th pick this week, get starting QB Daniel Jones back when they play at team disarray, otherwise known as #8 Las Vegas (3-5), which will have a new coach (former Giants LB Antonio Pierce) and a new QB (rookie Aiden O’Connell), while #5 New England (2-6) will be hosting #10 Washington (3-5) and #6 Green Bay (2-5) will be hosting the LA Rams (3-5) who would have had the 11th pick this week.
