Selection order post updated

December 1, 2019

Bengals win; top pick back in play … Cincinnati, the NFL’s only remaining winless team heading into the week, finally got off the schneid earlier today with a 22-6 win over the NY Jets. That puts the Bengals just a game behind the Giants, who fell to 2-10 with a loss to Green Bay today, for the NFL’s worst record, but because Cincinnati has a much stronger SOS than the Giants, if the two did finish the season tied, the New Yorkers get the draft tie-breaker and would end up with the top pick. In fact, both teams would have to win at least two of their remaining 4 games to fall out of the top two picks, assuming that none of the three-win teams wins any of their remaining games. Meanwhile, Washington and Miami will hold the 3-4 picks, at least for this week, although there is currently no difference in the SOS numbers for the Redskins and Dolphins, while Atlanta at #5, Detroit, Arizona, the NY Jets, Jacksonville, the LA Chargers and Denver round out the first 11 picks. As usual, the full first-round selection order for the 2020 draft were it to be held this week, will be updated after tomorrow’s Monday night game.
