Selection order on bye week! … There are at least a couple of really anticipated games on today’s NFL schedule with Buffalo playing in Kansas City in a late afternoon battle between the two best teams in the AFC, while Dallas and Philadelphia will play for the division lead in the suddenly tough again NFC East in the Sunday night game. Of course, neither of those games will have much of anything to do with the early selection order for the 2023 draft. In fact, this weekend’s schedule won’t have much to do with the early selection order for the upcoming draft, at least for the immediate future, as three of the teams currently sitting 5 picks have their byes this week. However, Carolina, which would have had the first pick were the draft held last week, is in action as the Panthers will be in Los Angeles to play the defending Super Bowl champion Rams in a 4 PM ET game, while Pittsburgh, which would have had the third pick this week, will be hosting Tampa Bay in an early game. At the same time, though, Las Vegas, which sits on the second pick, Detroit, at #4, and Houston, which moved up to #5 when Washington won on Thursday night, all have their byes this week. While there won’t be much change at the top of the board, there will be some shuffling a little bit farther on down as there are three games involving 2-3 teams with New England at Cleveland, Cincinnati at New Orleans, and Arizona at Seattle, while Jacksonville, another 2-3 team will be at 2-2-1 Indianapolis.
