SC QB Daniels to enter transfer portal

April 20, 2020

SC QB Daniels to enter transfer portal … Southern California has confirmed that redshirt sophomore QB J.T. Daniels will be entering the NCAA’s  transfer portal. Daniels was originally thinking of returning to USC for the coming season, before considering a grad transfer next year, but with the NCAA considering a one-time transfer exception this summer because of the pandemic, Daniels could conceivably be eligible immediately for the 2020 season. The NCAA is expected to vote on the transfer proposal next month. Daniels, who is considered to be a solid second-tier QB prospect for the 2021 draft, although he still would have two years of eligibility remaining, started every game for the Trojans as a true frosh in 2018, but missed almost all of last season after tearing an ACL in the season-opener. Daniels was replaced by Kedon Slovis, another true frosh, who went to earn freshman All-America honors and is entrenched as the Trojans’ starter for the upcoming season. However, there is a chance that Daniels could opt to stay at USC if the exemption thing doesn’t materialize. Of course, it could all be moot if the 2020 season doesn’t materialize because of COVID-19.
