Romo retires

Romo retires; leaves Texans, Broncos in lurch … A day after being given permission to seek a new team for himself, Dallas QB Tony Romo took another route and announced his retirement with the intention of finding a job as a network color commentator. And Romo appears to be getting far from interest from the networks, with at least three reportedly interested, than he did from NFL teams seeking a potential trade with the Cowboys. With Dak Prescott now ensconced as the Dallas starter, there had been speculation that both Denver and Houston would be very interested in acquiring Romo. Neither, though, was willing to part with draft picks in order to acquire him in a trade and both were reportedly waiting for him to be released. Houston, in particular, was thought to be very, very interested, especially after the Texans traded incumbent starter Brock Osweiller to Cleveland in what amounted to a salary dump. The question now in Houston is what do the Texans, who have a championship caliber defense, do for a QB as they currently have only Tom Savage and Brandon Weeden at the position on the roster. And picking 25th in this month’s draft, the Texans aren’t likely going to be in a position to acquire a young QB with the potential to step in and start right away. Stay tuned!
