Rams QB Stafford free to talk with other teams … The apparently fractured relationship between QB Matt Stafford and the LA Rams has come to this: the team has reportedly given Stafford to talk with other teams about a possible trade. And what that really means is that the Rams have given permission to Stafford to talk with other teams willing to give the 37-year-old a raise and contract extension. What isn’t as clear at this time is what kind of compensation the Rams would be looking for, but it might not be all that steep given his age. In fact, there has been a rumor bubbling around the league for at least several weeks that the Rams could ultimately trade Stafford to the NY Giants and then sign QB Aaron Rodgers whose days with the Jets are over and apparently would like to go home to California. Certainly would make some sense for the Giants, who desperately need a QB, but could miss out on both Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, the top 2 first-round QBs in this year’s draft, even though New York has the 3rd pick overall if Tennessee and Cleveland were to beat them to the punch by selecting the two themselves. That would give the Giants a little bit of breathing room to find their QB of the future down the road. Stay tuned.
