QBs slipping? Guru seems to think so

October 12, 2024

Are 2025 QBs slipping? … For those that haven’t seen it yet, ESPN’s Mel Kiper posted an updated ranking of his top 25 prospects for the upcoming draft and in a major change does not have a QB rated in the top 10. Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders is the top player at the position at #13, followed in order by Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, Miami’s Cam Ward, Carson Beck of Georgia and Texas’ Quinn Ewers. Kiper, of course, is not the gospel when it comes to the draft, but he’s going to be as connected as any draft analyst so it is something to watch. In fact, we have heard some whispers of the ‘P’ word when it comes to the 2025 QB grouping. That refers to Kenny Pickett and the 2022 draft when the former Pitt star was the first QB taken but only at the 20th pick. Time will tell. And we’ll get a chance to check out a number of the top QBs for this year’s draft later today as 6 of Kiper’s current top 10 at the position are playing later today on national television. Alabama’s Milroe, for example, faces South Carolina at Noon ET on ABC; at 3:30 PM ET Texas’ Ewers plays Oklahoma in their annual Red River Rivalry game on ABC, while Drew Allar of Penn State will be on the west coast at Southern Cal on CBS; and then this evening Jaxson Dart of Mississippi goes head-to-head against Garrett Nussmeier of LSU on ABC, while Will Howard of Ohio State plays at Oregon in a battle of #s 2 and 3 in Eugene with both those games at 7:30 PM ET.
