QB Lance opts out; WR Ross cleared to lift and other college draft notes … After playing in his team’s only game this fall, rising North Dakota State QB Trey Lance has confirmed that he has opted out of the rest of any 2020 season that the Bison plays this year and instead will be entering the upcoming draft. North Dakota State’s season got pushed back to the spring when the Missouri Valley Conference, along with the rest of the FCS leagues, opted not to play this fall because of the pandemic. The Bison were able to get one game in against Central Arkansas last weekend, but won’t play again until the spring. Despite playing only 1 full year with the Bison, Lance emerged last fall as a potential top 5-10 prospect for the upcoming draft. Meanwhile, there was some good news for Clemson junior WR Justyn Ross. Ross had been considered to be another potential top 5-10 candidate for the upcoming draft this past winter, but his entire football future was put on hold when he was diagnosed with a spinal injury which required surgery in June. Ross will undergo a further evaluation in Decemeber, although at this time it seems more likely that if he is in fact cleared to play again he’s more likely to return to Clemson for the 2021 season. Ross still has a ways to go, but has been cleared to begin lifting weights again. Elsewhere, it has been a busy couple of days in the Oregon defensive backfield. On the one hand, FS Brady Breeze has opted out and declared for the draft. Last season as a junior, Breeze was named to the All-Pac-12 first team after posting 62 tackles, along with 2 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries and another forced fumble. On the other hand, Ducks’ CB Deommodore Lenoir, who had previously opted out and declared for the draft, has now opted back in for the upcoming PAC-12 season. Same story for another PAC-12 corner as Camryn Bynum of California has also announced that he will play this fall after opting out earlier this fall.
