QB issues to impact race to top pick … The three teams currently sitting on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th picks respectively in this week’s selection order for the 2025 draft will all have back-ups at QB when play resumes this coming Sunday. Carolina, which would have the #2 pick were the draft held this week, for example, will be starting Bryce Young in place of Andy Dalton this week when the Panthers play at Denver. Dalton sprained a thumb in a minor traffic accident earlier this week. Young, the first pick overall two years ago, did start earlier in the year, but was benched for Dalton. Meanwhile, veteran Jameis Winston will get the call in Cleveland where starter DeShaun Watson is out for the year after tearing his Achilles last weekend. The Browns, who would pick 3rd, will also be making a change on the sidelines on Sunday when they host Baltimore as offensive co-ordinator Ken Dorsey will take over play-calling duties from head coach Kevin Stefanski. And in Tennessee Mason Rudolph will be behind center when the Titans play at Detroit as incumbent starter Will Levis is still dealing with a lingering shoulder injury.
