PSU soph TE added to TE list … For the record, the GBN has added Penn State TE Pat Freiermuth to the positional ranking for 2020 despite the fact that he has only been in the program for two years. In fact, the GBN staff have Freiermuth listed as the top TE prospect for the upcoming draft on our ranking for the position, in what is considered a weak year at the position, while he’s #32 on the GBN Big Board. The 6-5, 255-pound Freiermuth currently has 34 receptions for 424 yards and 7 TDs for the season. Although he is in just his second year at Penn State, Freiermuth is draft eligible this season because he spent five years in high school, including a postgraduate year in prep school. And Freiermuth is being coy about his future intentions. He did hint that he’ll be returning to school when he noted after failing to make the list of finalists for the John Mackey Award, given annually to the top TE in the country, that it was his lifelong dream to win the award and “if it’s not going to be this year, it’s going to be next year or the year after that.” At the same time, though, Freiermuth is also saying that he has yet to give any real thought to what he’ll be doing this off-season. Stay tuned.
