Pro day roundup … The second week on the pro day circuit ends Friday with a much-anticipated workout at Michigan where DEs Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo are the headliners. Hutchinson, in particular, is generally considered to be the consensus favorite to be the first player selected at the 2022 draft. For the record, South Carolina will also be hosting its pro day on Friday after Clemson went on Thursday. Needless to say all 32 NFL teams were in attendance at the Tigers’ workout, although it was a bit of a down year for the Tigers. And most in attendance were intrigued to see if WR Justyn Ross, a one-time legit top ten prospect who who barely played in 2021 because of a neck issue that almost ended his career, would fully participate. In the end, he did but the results were kind of disappointing. Ross, a big-play threat when healthy, had a very pedestrian 31-inch vertical and then ran in the 4.60 range for the 40. On the other hand, it was a pretty good day for a couple of Tiger defenders that had to be disappointed that they weren’t invited to the combine in MLB James Skalski and safety Nolan Turner. Skalski, at 6-0, 228, still isn’t all that big, but posted 26 reps in the BP, had a 34-inch vertical and was unofficially timed in the 4.75 range in the 40. The 6-1, 202-pound Turner was even better recording a 37.5 vertical and a sub-4.50 40 clocking … California was shut out of the combine, but one guy who may get a camp invite after his pro day was OLB Cam Goode who had a strong workout at the Bears’ pro day earlier this week. Goode, who had 7 sacks this past season, measured in at 6-4, 232 and posted a very athletic 39-inch vertical, along with a decent 4.60 40 clocking and a very quick time under 7-flat in the 3-cone that would have been the fastest among OLBs … Real nice touch at the Michigan State pro day where backup OT Luke Campbell, a grad student with no NFL aspirations, worked out anyway to raise money for research into a rare form of childhood brain cancer. Meanwhile, among Spartans who would like to get an NFL call, MLB Noah Harvey had a nice day as he had 25 reps in the BP, posted a 34.5-inch vertical, and was timed in the 4.6 range in the 40.
