Pro day circuit wraps first week

March 10, 2022

Pro day circuit wraps first week … The first full week on the annual pro day schedule ends relatively quietly Friday with only a half dozen or so teams scheduled to hold their on-campus workouts including those at Illinois and UNLV. Its actually been a pretty quiet week overall so far. It was nice to see a big turnout at the Tulsa workout on Thursday with reps from all but two teams in attendance. And most were there to get another look at OT Tyler Smith, a rising prospect at the position who had a strong combine. There were also 30 teams represented at the Texas pro day today where DB Brenden Schooler, who actually played four years at Oregon before transferring to the Longhorns for his ‘free’ year, may have earned himself a late round or free agent look as a special teamer. Schooler, who was listed at 6-2, 205, reportedly was timed in 4.41 seconds in the 40 while he also posted a 37.5-inch vertical and some quick times in the agility drills. Meanwhile, TE Cade Brewer was timed in 4.80 seconds for the 40, while DE Ben Davis, a one-time big-time recruit at LSU, was clocked in a reported 4.70 seconds.
