As things stand right now ‘Trader Howie’ ROSEMAN, the Eagles GM, faces a new challenge, for him at least. The EAGLES are loaded at the top of the Draft considering they were in the Super Bowl a couple of months ago. They have two first rounders and 4 Picks overall in the top 94. Then they don’t pick again until Round 7. But never fear Eagles fans Howie’s track record says he’ll make things work to add significant help to his teams roster. But, no trading in my Mocks so let’s get on with it.
Round1, Pick 10 PETER SKORONSKI OL Northwestern This is a pick for the future, unless injuries force him into action early, or he beats someone out for a starting job, like JURGENS at RG. KELCE is back for 1 more year at OC. LANE JOHNSON is back for at least one more year, but has been hampered by injuries the past couple of seasons. However the scenario unfolds, this is an elite OL who will start for a decade somewhere on that OL, and soon.
Round 1, Pick 30 BRIAN BRANCH DB Alabama BRANCH’s measurement numbers don’t say elite, but his play does. He’s smart overall and is a great tackler. I would project him as a S starter for them, but he could also play in a Nickel role. He might have Blankenship & EDMUNDS both looking over their shoulders as the S slots.
Round 2, Pick 62 CEDRIC TILLMAN WR Tennessee They are a bit slim in the depth at WR so grabbing a solid, big guy who is a big play waiting to happen is a smart move.
Round 3, Pick 94 YAYA DIABY DE/ER Louisville You just knew they’d grab someone for their DL with one of these 4 Picks. A sleeper of sorts off a mediocre defensive Louisville team, he wowed scouts with his numbers and game tape. A good athlete who plays with high energy.
Round 7, Pick 219 MYLES BROOKS CB LA Tech Good sized Corner, who was ranked higher by some.
Round 7, Pick 248 MOHAMED IBAHIM RB Minnesota The team has a loaded backfield, but with only a modicum of NFL level success. This guy runs as if his life depended upon it, and picks up yardage in chunks. At 5’8/205, he’s tough and strong.
It’s not a lot of help, but those top 4 guys should all be Rookie contributors by October, if not before. FLY EAGLES FLY
