Penn State, Ole Miss up on pro day sched … The final full week on the annual pro day schedule wraps up later today with a couple of very intriguing work outs at Penn State and Mississippi. Unfortunately, though, DE Abdul Carter, one of the main attractions at the Penn State pro day, won’t work out as he is still rehabbing from shoulder and foot injuries. Carter has indicated that he’d like to work out for pro teams prior to next month’s draft, but nothing has been scheduled to date. At least, Carter will go thru a formal weigh-in and measurement session today as for some reason he did not do so at the combine after a stress fracture was discovered on his foot during medical tests. However, even with Carter on the sidelines, there will still be plenty of interest in the PSU work out as the Nittany Lions have a number of other top prospects including TE Tyler Warren, who is a potential top ten pick in his own right. Pro scouts are also interested to see if safety Kevin Winston is able to work out after he missed the season with an injury.
There is also going to be some intrigue at the Ole Miss pro day where QB Jaxson Dart will go thru one of those proverbial scripted throwing sessions. Not that Dart won’t do fine, but as one of the top 2-3 second-tier QBs in this year’s draft class, it is going to be interesting which teams come in numbers to check him out. At the same time, a couple of Rebel defensive linemen – DT Walter Nolen and DE Jared Ivey – did not run at the combine.
