Picks in Pats-Rams deal for RB Michel amended … New England has still traded veteran RB Sony Michel to the LA Rams, but the compensation has changed. It was announced earlier in the day that in exchange for Michel, a former first round pick in 2018, the Patriots would receive either a 4th round compensatory pick if the Rams get one that high for losing FS John Johnson in free agency, or failing that, 5th and 6th-round picks. However, the league ruled that making a trade involving a possible future comp pick was outside the rules so the two teams changed the terms. Instead the Patriots will get a 6th round pick this year and a 4th in 2023. Michel was reasonably productive with the Patriots, but became expendable with the emergence of rookie RB Rhamondre Stevenson, who heads a deep RB room. Meanwhile, Michel fills a major need with the Rams who lost starting RB Cam Akers for the year to a torn Achilles, while fellow back Darrell Henderson is currently out with a thumb injury.
