Pats trade top DE to Cards for OG, pick … In something of a surprise move, New England has traded DE Chandler Jones to Arizona for OG Jon Cooper and a second round pick, the 61st overall. Jones led the Patriots with 12.5 sacks in 2015, but will be a free agent at the end of the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Cooper was the 7th pick overall at the 2013 draft, but has struggled to date with injuries. And in acquiring the Cardinals’ 2nd round pick, the Patriots will now have back-to-back picks (#s 60-61) at the end of the round, although of course they’ll also be New England’s first picks as they were forced to forfeit their #1 selection over the deflated footballs business.
