Panthers, Saints set to make Watson offers

Panthers, Saints set to make Watson offers … There are multiple reports this day that both Carolina and New Orleans are prepared to make significant trade offers for Houston QB Deshaun Watson now that the embattled Texans QB no longer faces the prospect of criminal charges stemming from those allegations of sexual assault against multiple masseuses.  This won’t be anything new for the Panthers who were very much in the bidding for Watson’s services in the fall; however, because he has a no-trade contract Watson still controls where he goes and it appeared back in the fall that he really didn’t want to play for Carolina. In fact, Watson has reportedly indicated that he is prepared to meet with teams that do make an offer to the Texans. Of course, it is entirely likely that Carolina and New Saints won’t be the only teams that want in on the bidding for Watson as there were as many as ten that reportedly had talked informally with the Texans about his availability prior to the resolution of the criminal case.

And one team that may be very serious about the whole business is Cleveland. Indeed, there are pretty loud rumblings out of the organization that they just don’t believe that they can win it all with Baker Mayfield and are exploring all their options including a possible trade for Watson. As well, there were recent reports that Tampa Bay, which has a huge hole at the position with the retirement of Tom Brady, has actually asked the Browns about Mayfield’s availability. The Bucs, though, are also a team that is believed to have interest in Watson so hang on it could be a wild and wacky several weeks!
