Cards safeties turn pro … Doesn’t happen all that often but both of Louisville’s starting junior safeties this fall -FS Gerod Holllimon and SS James Sample – have opted to enter the upcoming draft. The ball-hawking Holliman led the country with a remarkable 14 interceptions this past season – only one other player in college football had more than 7 – and figures to be taken somewhere on the second day of the draft, while Sample, who led the Cardinals‘ with 90 tackles this past season while chipping in 4 picks of his own, is more a mid-to-late round prospect. The entry of the two UL safeties into the 2015 draft field, brings the unofficial number underclassmen to have indicated in some form or other that they intend to enter the upcoming draft to an even 50. Underclassmen have until January 15th to file paperwork with the NFL to be eligible for the 2015 draft and there are still a number of big-name underclassmen who have yet to be heard from. Stay tuned!
