Off-season! What off-season … The great thing about the NFL, compared with just about every other major sport out there, is there really is no off-season. Indeed, in just about every other sport this would be dead time. This is the NFL though and it feels like we are just getting started. The new football year, with the start of the trading period as well as the opening of free agency comes up at 4 PM ET on Wednesday. And while teams can’t formally sign free agents until then, the window of opportunity for teams to negotiate with those free agents is now open. Meanwhile, the draft is now just 45 days away and the clock is ticking with the pro day schedule really starting to heat up this week. In fact, arguably the biggest pro day of the year should be on Wednesday when Oklahoma, with QB Kyler Murray, works out for pro teams. Then on Thursday, national champion Clemson will have its turn. Meanwhile, this week’s schedule also includes workouts at Arkansas and Illinois today, Oklahoma State, Northwestern and Vanderbilt on Tuesday, Wisconsin on Wednesday, Tennessee on Thursday and Michigan, Oregon State and Colorado State on Friday. Have a good one!
