Notes from morning measurement session … While we wait for the start of today’s on-field workouts for the QBs, RBs and WRs, there are a couple of notes from this morning’s measurement. Shedeur Sanders actually came a little bigger than some had anticipated; there were concerns that the Colorado star wasn’t much over 200 pounds but he came in today at 6-1.5 and 212 pounds. Also of note, Sanders had the biggest hands of all the QBs in Indianapolis this week. In fact, Sanders isn’t all that much smaller than Cam Ward, the other top rated QB, who is also 6-1.5, but 219 pounds. And Ward had the smallest hands of this year’s combine QBs, but at 9″ they are still within the norm. Meanwhile, Dillon Gabriel ‘survived’ as a decent second-tier prospect when he came in pretty much as expected at 5-11, 205. Sticking with the hands thing, the one thing we noted about the receivers s that among the top prospects at WR Luther Burden had relatively small hands (8.5″) while Tetairoa McMillan had big 10″ mitts. And if there was a prize for the best looking receiver this week it may go to TCU’s Savion Williams who measured in at 6-4, 222 with 10″+ hands, while he was one of just 2 WRs with a wingspan over 80″. On the other hand, size, or lack thereof, may be an issue at RB among whom several of the top prospets weren’t much over 5-8. That includes Ashton Jeanty, the top-rated back and top 10 candidate, who was only 5-8.5, but 211 pounds. At the same time, Dylan Sampson of Tennessee was also only 5-8.5, but also only 200 pounds, while UCF’s RJ Harvey was barely over 5-8 and 205 pounds.
