Notes from CB weigh-in

February 28, 2025

Notes from CB weigh-in … When you’re hot you’re hot. Iowa State CB Darien Porter, for example, wowed earlier this afternoon when he clocked a very quick 4.30 40 clocking. And that was after he also aced the eyeball test at the weigh-in/measurement session as Porter measured in at 6-3, 195 with long (for a corner) 33″ arms. For the record, Kentucky’s Max Hairston, who bested Porter’s 40-time by a 1/100th of  a second, is not as physically imposing at 5-11, 182 with 31″ arms, although he has looked very smooth in positional drills. Colorado’s Travis Hunter, one of the top 2-3 prospects for the draft, also isn’t all that big at just 6-0, 188 with 31.5″ arms. Interesting that Michigan’s Will Johnson, the other top-rated CB, is a little bigger than Hunter at 6-2, 195, but has relatively short 30″ arms for a true elite corner.

Meanwhile, other corners that looked great in shorts included Zah Frazier of UTSA who ran a 4.37 40 after measuring in at 6-3, 186 with those 33″ arms; Nebraska’s Tommi Hill, a 213-pounder with 33″ arms; Az Thomas of Florida State who measured in at 6-1.5, 195, with 32.5″ arms, as well as East Carolina’s Shavon Revel, who was one of the rising stars in the 2025 class before tearing an ACL early in the season, measured in at 6-1.5, 195 with 32.5″ arms.
