No rest for weary football souls

March 7, 2022

No rest for weary football souls … Watched over 20 hours of NFL combine drills over the weekend and think you should get a break! Think again! We are just getting started! The new NFL year starts a week today when teams must be under the salary cap and can begin to trade players and sign free agents. In fact, the deadline to designate players with a franchise or transition tag comes up tomorrow. Kansas City became the first team to tag a player when they designated OT Orlando Brown as a franchise player. Meanwhile, Cincinnati is expected to tag FS Jesse Bates, while Green Bay is pretty much expected to tag star WR Davante Adams. At the same time, there certainly won’t be any rest for NFL scouts who have already begun fanning out across the country for the annual pro day circuit which gets underway this week with the first stops at least on the schedule as we currently have it at Northwestern and Miami (Ohio) tomorrow. Hang in there!
