No pre-season games

League agrees to no pre-season games … With NFL training camps scheduled to open this week, negotiations between the league and players’ association continue as the two sides try to hammer out the parameters for this season. The NFL has reportedly agreed that there will be no pre-season games this year. The league had originally hoped to still have two pre-season games per team and offered one to the union that stood fast on not wanting any. In the end, teams will follow a schedule that will include three weeks of strength and conditioning work, 10 days of non-padded practice and 10 days of padded practice over the final two weeks. The league has also reportedly agreed to test players for COVID-19 every day for at least the first two weeks of camp with adjustments in that schedule to be made after that. Also, with the opening of training camps looming, there is a sudden urgency to get 2020 draft picks signed. Indeed, a total of 26 rookie picks came to terms with their respective teams over the past 24 hours including 4 first rounders. The four first rounders to come to terms included Jacksonville OLB K’Lavon Chaisson, the 20th player selected this past April, Philadelphia WR Jalen Reagor, #21, Miami CB Noah Igbinoghene, #30, and Kansas City RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the final player taken in this year’s opening round. That still leaves about half the teams in the league needing to sign their top picks from this year’s draft.
