No bull, Bull top pick in CFL draft … Pretty much as expected, CFL teams are passing overall the NFL bound top-rated prospects for tonight’s Canadian league draft and instead have concentrated on players who’ll be available when the CFL kicks off its regular season in July. Ottawa with the first pick, for example, chose Fresno State OT Dontae Bull, who at 6-6, 325 is kind f built a little like a bull. With the second pick, Edmonton selected University of Montreal LB Michael Brodrique, while Saskatchewan took UBC DE Lake Korte-Moore with the third pick. Update: Saskatchewan was the first team to pull the trigger on one of the trigger on one of the CFL draft’s NFL-bound players when the Roughriders selected Eastern Michigan OG Sidey Sow in the 6th round with the 48th pick overall. The Riders also chose Ole Miss DE Tavius Robinson in the 8th round, while Montreal chose Illinois RB Chase Brown in the 7th round. On the other hand, Brown’s twin brother Sydney and Syracuse OF Matt Bergeron, the top-rated player for the CFL draft weren’t selected at all. And just to emphasize the difference between the CFL and NFL drafts, Ottawa U LB Max Charbonneau, the 71st and second to last player selected last night by Winnipeg, was the manager of the crew that washed our windows a couple of weeks back. And for the record, Sherbrooke OG Tony Vandal became the CFL’s ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ when he was selected with the 72nd and final pick by Toronto. Here are all the picks from the CFL draft.
