Niners sign 2nd rounder; first break in logjam … San Francisco has reportedly come to terms with former Texas DT Alfred Collins, the 49ers’ 2nd round pick at this past April’s draft. Collins, this year’s 43rd pick overall, is the just the third second rounder to come to terms in a contract dispute that developed when the first 2 players selected in the round received fully guaranteed contracts. In the end, Collins’ contract was not fully guaranteed, although almost 90% was, up from around 80% the previous year. The question around the league is whether the new Collins contract will serve as a template for the now other 29 ‘holdouts?’
