NFLPA star game cancelled

November 13, 2020

NFLPA star game cancelled; other college notes …  The NFLPA has announced that its annual college all-star game has been cancelled due to Covid complications. The NFLPA game is the 2nd of the 4 main college all-star games to be cancelled following the East-West Shrine Bowl which was cancelled late last month. That leaves the Senior Bowl and the Hula Bowl as the two major all-star games still on the docket, although time will tell whether they actually end up holding their practices and games. Speaking of the Senior Bowl, that game announced the addition of five more players who have accepted invitations including Alabama OG Deonte Brown, Virginia OLB Charles Snowden, Northern Iowa DE Elerson Smith, LSU CB Kary Vincent and Houston OLB Grant Stuard. Meanwhile, a couple of other notes from college football: Montana WR Samori Toure, an FCS All-American last season and a 3rd day pro prospect, has announced that he has opted out of the current season and entered the transfer portal with the intention of returning for the 2021 college season rather than entering the draft. Southern Miss QB Jack Abraham has also opted out for the remainder of the season after missing last week’s game against North Alabama as he has battled a concussion and Covid all year. Abraham was on the preseason watch lists for the Manning Award and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and is a late 3rd day or free agent prospect whenever he does turn pro. What isn’t clear at this point is whether Abraham plans to enter the draft or use the NCAA’s “free pass” rule and come back for the 2021 season.
