NFL tells teams camp opening a go … The NFL sent out a memo to all 32 teams earlier today informing them that despite ongoing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, training camps will open as scheduled. According to the current schedule, rookies are to report on July 21st – for the record that’s Tuesday – with QBs and injured players to report on July 23rd and all other players to report on July 28th. In fact, Kansas City and Houston will actually start a day earlier because they’re scheduled to kick off the regular season on Thursday, September 10th. As of now, the NFL is saying that the regular season will be played as scheduled. However, the league and player’s union are still negotiating the pre-season. The NFL reportedly wants to have each team play two pre-season games, while the union is holding out for none. In fact, the league and union are still negotiating many of the protocols that will allow the league to open safely, including roster size and opt-out options. Stay tuned!
