NFL on edge awaiting Clowney trade … If the NFL buzz wire wasn’t alive enough with Indianapolis QB Andrew Luck’s shocking retirement announcement this weekend still reverberating, there are multiple reports this morning that Houston could be on the verge of trading star ER Jadeveon Clowney. Clowney, the #1 pick overall at the 2014 draft, was franchised by the Texans this off-season, but has yet to report as the two parties are nowhere near a new deal. So rather than lose Clowney, who had 9 sacks in each of the past couple of seasons, to free agency this coming off-season, the Texans are prepared to make a trade now and cut their losses. It doesn’t appear that the Texans will have any trouble finding a dance partner as multiple teams including Philadelphia, Miami, Seattle and Buffalo are all reportedly very interested with more reportedly lining up to get involved, although Clowney has indicated a preference to play for a contender. And while Houston could get an intriguing package of draft picks in return for Clowney, the Texans would reportedly prefer to also come away from the situation with some veteran help including a LT and possibly a RB after incumbent starter Lamar Miller went down with a torn ACL over the weekend. Stay tuned!
