Neal doesn’t run at Tide pro day … In a little bit of a twist Alabama OT Evan Neal, who was expected t run at today’s pro day after not doing so at the combine, ultimately opted not to do so. No reason given, that is, whether its injury related or simply personal choice, or whether he will run at a private workout at a later date. It is possible that Neal, who measured in at 345 pounds today, up from 337 at the combine, has decided that he has nothing to gain by running and simply won’t. Neal, though, did say that he has meetings scheduled with Jacksonville and both New York teams who have the 1st, 4th and 5th picks respectively at this year’s draft. We also haven’t heard who exactly is attending the Tide workout today, although there reportedly is a large contingent from Jacksonville. And an interesting side note on the Jags; they signed veteran DE Arden Key, who had something of a breakout year with the 49ers last year. While the Jags have been thought to be leaning toward Michigan DE Aidan Hutchinson with the 1st pick, adding Key would give them someone to play opposite Josh Allen if they were to decide that they would prefer to take an OT.
At the same time, no one expected Tide WR Jameson Williams to run today as he continues to rehab from a torn ACL suffered during the national championship game, but for what it’s worth, Williams indicated today that he is ahead of schedule and expects to be cleared for practice by the time training camps open. NFL teams will in fact get an update on his situation early next month when injured players go back to Indianapolis for a final pre-draft check.
