Murray soap opera continues to dominate draft talk … With exactly 50 days to go until the start of 2019 draft, most of the buzz out there is focuses on Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray and what Arizona will do with the #1 pick. And Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury didn’t offer much clarity week when he was quoted as saying earlier this week that the Cardinals still were not close to a decision as to what direction to take with the #1 pick. Presumably meant that all options are still on the table for the Cardinals including the possibility of selected Murray with the pick and trading Josh Rosen whom they traded up to take with the 10th pick last April. At the same time, ESPN is reporting that multiple teams have contacted the Cardinals about Rosen, but to date none has been told that he is actually available. Of course, the Cardinals could just be keeping their ‘cards’ close to their vests to try and drive up the price for Rosen as speculation around the league this week is that they weren’t likely to get more than a 3rd rounder, or possibly a conditional second, in a trade. Which may actually tell the Cardinals what the rest of the league thinks about Rosen. Meanwhile, long-time NFL.com analyst Charley Casserly created a stir when he reported that he had been told by several anonymous sources that Murray had performed very poorly during combine interviews. That brought an immediate response from Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley who said he has personally spoken to most of the teams that talked to Murray and doesn’t believe Casserly’s claims are true. Riley also said Casserly is incorrect in saying Murray is not a good leader. The good news, though, is that as of tomorrow there will be just 49 days to deal with the Murray smoke and mirrors show. Hang in there!!!
