Monday morning buzz

Goff to Rams; Jack questions hilite morning buzz … Literally just over 100 hours until the actual 2016 draft gets underway and most NFL war rooms are now in lock-down mode. However, there are a couple of stories/rumblings out there. On the one hand, there seems to be a growing chorus that the LA Rams will take California QB Jared Goff over Carson Wentz of North Dakota State with the first pick overall on Wednesday. When the Rams initially made the trade with Tennessee to move up from the 15th pick, the consensus around the league seemed to be that Wentz was the target, but that seems to have changed. The folks in the Philadelphia press also seem to have bought into that as almost all the local media reports there are focusing in on Wentz as the guy the Eagles are going to get with the 2nd pick. Meanwhile, those reports about concerns about the condition of UCLA LB Myles Jack knee possibly causing him to fall out of this week’s top 10 just won’t go away. NFL.com, for example, is reporting that Jack has something called a ‘chondral defect’ in the knee that may impact the length of his career. Jack, of course, is considered to be one of the top 2-3 prospects in this draft if healthy, but if has been the operative word as he was never able to fully work out this spring because of the knee which he injured way back in September. That said, Jacksonville, which has the 5th pick, has been all Jack in recent weeks so we will find out on Thursday.
