LSU DB switches gears; will enter draft … The Baton Rouge Advocate is reporting that LSU junior FS Jalen Mills is telling teammates that he has changed his mind and will in fact enter the 2015 draft. Mills had said earlier that he would be staying in school; he’s thought to be a late second-day prospect for the upcoming draft. Mills is the third former LSU player to declare for this year’s draft joining CB Jalen Collins and LB Kwon Alexander. Meanwhile, the NFL is still waiting to hear from junior DE Danielle Hunter, along with junior OG Vadal Alexander and redshirt sophomore Jerald Hawkins.
UMass TE to enter draft … The school newspaper is reporting that UMass junior TE Jean Sifrin will enter the draft. While not particularly well known, Sifrin is actually an interesting prospect. He’s 6-7, 250 with good hands and feet, although he is somewhat unpolished blocker. Sifrin finished the past season – his only experience at D1A football – with 42 catches including 6 for scores despite sitting out one game while waiting for his eligibility to be cleared. That was good enough to earn him first-team all-conference honors in the MAC, while he was also named to the Mackey Award watch list. Here’s the rub: Sifrin is already 27 as he spent 5 years out of football to take care of his family after high school. Prior to enrolling at UMass he spent several years playing at the junior college level where he also played basketball.
