LSU, SEC continue to dominate draft … After dominating the first two days of the 2020 draft, the SEC literally jogged to the finish line through the final rounds to lead all conferences with players chosen this weekend. In the end, the SEC had 63 players drafted throughout the 7 rounds, including 15 of 32 first round picks, well ahead of the Big Ten which finished second with 48 picks. Meanwhile, the Pac-12 had 32 players selected, followed by the ACC with 27, and the Big XII with 21. In fact, the Big XII only had four more players than the American Athletic Conference which had 17, while Mountain West and C-USA both had ten and Sun Belt 7. Not a good weekend, though, for the Mid-American which had but two players selected, while there were 9 players selected from one of the Independents. And no surprise here as reigning national champion LSU led all schools with 14 players selected through the 7 rounds. That, in fact, tied the all-time 7 record with Ohio State’s 2016 haul. Ohio State was the only other school to hit double figures this year with 10 former Buckeyes getting a call this weekend, while Alabama had 9 and Georgia, Florida, Utah, and Clemson had 7 each.
