Lions send QB Stafford to Rams for QB Goff, multiple picks … Just when you thought it was safe to turn in, multiple sources are reporting that Detroit has traded veteran QB Matt Stafford to the LA Rams for QB Jared Goff and three draft picks including first rounders in 2022 and 2023. The Lions will also get the Rams 3rd round pick this year. While the teams have agreed on the deal, it won’t become official until March 17th when the new league year starts. Interesting that the Lions acquired Goff as part of the deal as it gives them flexibility at this year’s draft. If they had moved Stafford without getting a QB in return the Lions would almost have been forced to take a QB with the 7th pick overall in this spring’s draft. However, with Goff around as insurance, the Lions don’t have to force a pick at the position.
