‘Johnny football no more’ in Cleveland … About the only surprise is that it took so long, but Cleveland has formally released enigmatic QB Johnny Manziel. Manziel was the 22nd player taken at the 2014 draft despite some off-field questions that never subsided with the Browns. Indeed, Manziel is currently under investigation for a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend. In fact, there was some speculation that the Browns might actually hang onto Manziel for awhile hoping that he gets suspended by the NFL which might allow the Browns to recoup some of their original bonus money they gave him, but have obviously decided to move on. Needless to say the bigger question in Cleveland right now is what do the Browns do going forward. They have the #2 pick in this year’s draft where they are expected to take address the position with either Carson Wentz or Jared Goff. Intersteingly, though, the Browns are one of the teams reportedly in talks with San Francisco with veteran QB Colin Kaepernick.
