Jimmy G passes physical; moves closer to trade … Updating an earlier report on the status of San Francisco QB Jimmy Garoppolo, the last remaining domino in what has been a crazy off-season of veteran QB Musical chairs, Garoppolo passed his pre-camp physical with the 49ers yesterday. Garoppolo was injured his shoulder in the 49ers’ playoff game with Dallas last January and ultimately underwent surgery in early March ending the possibility of a pre-draft trade with 2021 first-rounder Trey Lance expected to take over as the team’s QB. However, while he has presumably been cleared to get back on the field, the 49ers reportedly are not going to keep Garoppolo on the sidelines until he has been dealt. Again, as reported in the earlier piece, there are several teams for which Garoppolo would clearly be an upgrade at QB including Seattle and Houston, so far nobody has exactly been banging down the 49ers’ door to get him.
