Jets sign Vikes FA LB Barr … Really interesting news out of New York where the Jets will reportedly sign former Minnesota OLB Anthony Barr when the NFL year begins on Wednesday. The Jets, who have the 3rd pick overall in this year’s opening round, were thought to be looking for a 3-4 edge rushing OLB. Barr, who made 4 Pro Bowls in his 5 years in Minnesota, never put huge sack numbers with the Vikings, but played mostly as a 4-3 OLB who didn’t necessarily get a ton of pass-rush opportunities in that system. If the Jets in fact see Barr as that potential ER, then they could end up looking at other players with the 3rd pick such as Alabama DT Quinnen Williams, if he gets that far. It could also allow the Jets to think more about trading out of the 3rd slot if they see Barr as addressing their #1 priority. Stay tuned!
