Jets name McCown starting QB

Jets name vet journeyman McCown starting QB … Another NFL QB domino fell earlier today when the New York Jets confirmed that veteran Josh McCown will be the starting QB for the September 10th season opener in Buffalo.  The bigger question, though, for the Jets is how long McCown keeps the job. The Jets are in full rebuild mode and the 38-year-old McCown, the consummate journeyman, is hardly the future at the position. Indeed, the Jets need to get playing time for youngsters Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty to see whether either has the potential to be the future at the position for the Jets. Otherwise, they likely will be forced to address the situation with an early pick at the 2018 draft. And with one of the league’s weakest overall rosters, not to mention a likely game of musical chairs at QB, the Jets are likely to have a very early pick this coming April. Stay tuned.
