Jets, Jags still 1-2 in weekly draft order, top 9 now set … Updating the earlier report on the weekly selection order were the 2021 draft to be held this week as a result of Sunday afternoon’s late games. After losing in Miami, the LA Chargers will move up into the #5 slot, at least for this week, with Miami picking 6th with Houston’s pick. At the same time, Cincinnati would have the 7th pick at least for this week, followed by the Giants at #8 and Carolina at #9. Meanwhile, the rest of the top 10 and beyond won’t be decided until after tomorrow night’s Monday niter between Minnesota and Chicago. As noted earlier today, because they were on their bye this week, the NY Jets, the NFL’s only remaining winless team, were going to keep the #1 pick overall in the proverbial ‘if the draft were held this week’ selection order for the 2021 draft, at least for another week, no matter what happened elsewhere in the league. Jacksonville, which came into the week sitting on the second pick, almost threw a wrench into the system as the lowly Jaguars threw a real scare into the Packers right in Green Bay, but in the end went down to a 24-20 loss that drops Jax to 1-8 and keeps the Jags at #2, again, at least for another week. We can also say for sure at this juncture that Dallas and Washington will have the 3rd and 4th picks for this week, but because there is currently almost no difference in their SOS figures who will be at #3 and who will be at #4 won’t be determined until the rest of the week’s games are in the book.
