Jets, Jags inch closer to top picks

November 22, 2020

Jets, Jags inch closer to top picks … Interesting afternoon in the NFL this PM with the NY Jets and Jacksonville both moving closer to a top 1-2 pick at the 2021 draft, while just about everybody else moved on, sort of. The Jets led early, then rallied late in Los Angeles against the Chargers, but in the end the NFL’s last remaining winless team stayed winless as a result of 34-28 loss. Meanwhile, the Jaguars hung around – sort of – with unbeaten Pittsburgh in town, for a half, but in the end weren’t close, to drop to 1-9. As a result, the Jets and Jaguars will remain 1-2 in the proverbial ‘if the draft were held this week’ selection order for the opening round of the upcoming draft. On the other hand, each of the 4 teams who were sitting on picks #3 through #6 all won this week. As a result, Cincinnati will move all the way up to the 3rd spot this week. And it won’t get any better for the Bengals, who reportedly lost rookie QB Joe Burrow for the year with what is believed to be a torn ACL suffered in today’s loss in Washington. Depending on the result of the two prime time games tonight and tomorrow, Dallas and Washington will share the 4th and 5th picks, while its the same for the NY Giants and LA Chargers with the 6th and 7th selections. As usual, the full selection order for this year’s opening round will be updated after tomorrow night’s Monday night game.
