Savage to replace fired Jets GM Douglas … After firing GM Joe Douglas earlier in the day in the wake of a 3-8 season, the NY Jets have named long-time NFL exec Phil Savage as interim GM. Savage has been with the Jets as a senior football advisor the past six years and has previous GM experience as he was General Manager in Cleveland from 2005-2008. Savage also had a very successful run as the executive director of the Senior Bowl prior to joining the Jets in 2019.
