Jags bench QB Bortles; QB becomes option with top pick … The Blake Bortles era in Jacksonville may have come to an end as he has been benched by the Jags in favor of veteran journeyman Cody Kessler for their game with Indianapolis this coming weekend. Its kind of a shocking development for the Jaguars who appeared to be on their way to big things this fall when they crushed New England in the second week of the season after advancing to the AFC title game last fall, but Jacksonville has gone 1-8 since including an on-going 7 game losing streak in which Bortles has been a turnover machine. Jacksonville would face some salary cap hurdles if they were to trade or release Bortles this off-season, but all indications are that the Jaguars will be looking hard at QBs with their first round pick at this year’s draft, which if it were held today would be the 6th overall.
