Its its the first week of September … its cut-down time in the NFL. Indeed, the Turk is starting to prowl as teams have to be down to the NFL-mandated 53-man opening day roster by 4 PM ET on Saturday. Players who are released prior to the deadline can be claimed off waivers until Noon ET on Sunday. Then starting at 1 PM ET on Sunday, teams can begin to sign their practice squads which this year have been increased to 16 players up from 12. New this year too is the fact that each week teams can protect up to 4 players on their practice squads from being claimed by other teams. Also note this year that game day rosters have been increased to a total of 55 players who are available and 48 who can be dressed. Stay tuned!
