Is draft QB market heating up?? … You just gotta love the draft!!! Don’t like what you see today? Just wait a couple of days and things may very well have changed. That certainly could be the case with the QBs and the top of the 2022 draft. As recently as just a couple of days ago, this year’s QB class appeared to be almost an afterthought. However, with the Watson and Ryan trades, the draft landscape for QBs may have changed rather dramatically in literally the past few hours. Again, unlike last year when we knew literally from the start of the process that the QBs were going to go early and often, we may not know until the actual draft what the league actually thinks about this year’s QB class, but there is a bit of a buzz out there that they could be back in the top ten picks. Houston, for example, let it be known that they’ll at least be looking at QBs with one of their first round picks after clearing up the Watson mess. And if the Texans do in fact want a QB, do they take a chance and wait until the 13th pick when the top guys could all be gone, or do they bite the bullet and grab the one they really want at #3. Meanwhile, both Carolina and Atlanta have been all over the top QBs at their pro days this week. Oh, and did we mention that David Tepper, the Panthers’ owner, is a Pittsburgh alum who reportedly just loves Kenny Pickett and what he did for the Panthers last fall. Heck, there’s even a little bit of a buzz out there that even Detroit could consider a QB at #2 if Michigan DE Aidan Hutchinson does indeed end up going first overall to Jacksonville. And with more teams needing QBs than there are good QBs in the draft could we see teams that need one thinking they might actually have to move up to get one, which could bring in some trade possibilities for the Lions at #2, the Jets at #4 and the Giants at both #s 5 and 7. But we probably won’t know for sure until April 28th. Stay tuned!!!
