Irish S Hamilton faster at pro day, but just! … For the record, Notre Same safety Kyle Hamilton clocked what the school described as an ‘official’ 4.56 40 at his pro day earlier today. That’s marginally quicker than his rather disappointing time of 4.59 at the combine, but probably not what Hamilton was hoping for which was likely something under 4.50. Hard to know what the NFL is gong to make of that time which isn’t all that bad for a 6-4, 220-pound guy, but it is slower than most expected. Hamilton, of course, was generally considered to be one the best 2-3 players in all college football last season before missing the back half of the campaign with a fractured foot.
Also for the record, ‘only’ 30 of the league’s 32 teams had reps at today’s Notre Dame pro day which one would have thought would have been a must stop for every team, particularly given the presence of Hamilton, who is still at worst a solid top 5-10 prospect for this April’s draft. Strangely, the two teams that apparently passed on the Irish pro day were Atlanta and Seattle, who have the 8th and 9th picks respectively this year, right about where one might think Hamilton would go this year. Its particularly odd that Seattle would not have been there because if Hamilton fits the profile of any NFL team its the Seahawks. At the same time, there were a couple of GM.s in attendance in Pittsburgh’s Kevin Colbert (who goes to a lot of them) and Green Bay’s Brian Gutekunst, along with head coaches Ron Rivera of Washington and New Orleans’ Dennis Allen. In fact, the Irish were ‘upset’ for the mythical national ‘Catholic school pro day attendance’ Trophy as ALL NFL teams had reps at today’s Boston College workout where offensive linemen Zion Johnson and Alec Lindstrom were the featured attractions. In fact, as many as 5 teams had their offensive line coaches at BC including Atlanta, Houston, Jacksonville, Cincinnati and the home-town Patriots.
And this courtesy of Jim Nagy of the Senior Bowl who is reporting that Cincinnati DE Myjai Sanders weighed in at the Senior Bowl at an undersized 228 pounds because he had been sick, but had bulked back up to a more respectable 247 at yesterday’s UC pro day .
