Initial college playoff rankings to be announced … The first set of rankings for college football’s four team playoff will be announced on ESPN at 7 PM ET later this evening. And while the initial rankings will be released with much fanfare, one could actually see more drama watching paint dry as unbeaten Alabama, Michigan, Clemson and Washington are expected to be the top 4 teams in this week’s rankings. However, there is still a ton of football to be played this fall and none of those four is guaranteed anything at this point. Top-ranked Alabama, for example, plays at LSU this week and could have a tussle on their hands when they wrap up the season against rising Auburn at the end of the month. At the same time, Michigan still has to play at Ohio State, which figures to come in at #s 5 or 6 in today’s rankings. In fact, both the Alabama-Auburn and Michigan-Ohio State games are scheduled for November 26th so clear your schedules. Stay tuned!
