Illini DTs to enter draft … It looks as if Illinois will have to rebuild the interior of its defensive front next fall as both current starters at the position – Jer’Zahn Newton and Keith Randolph – announced earlier today that they will forego their remaining college eligibility and enter the 2024 draft. Newton, in particular is a top-ten prospect with 16 career sacks including 5.5 this season. Meanwhile, Randolph is currently the 10th ranked DT on our positional board – Newton is #1 – although his numbers are down somewhat this fall as he only has 1.5 sacks to date compared with 5 last season. Both are listed as juniors, although Newton has actually been in school for 4 years and Randolph 5.
