Houston QB King to redshirt; future to be decided

Houston QB to redshirt; future to be decided … In a move that is sure to shake up the college football world, star Houston QB D’Eriq King has confirmed that he will not play again this fall and instead will use this season as a redshirt. Most observers expect King to then transfer somewhere as a grad transfer for the 2020 season, although King himself is saying that he intends to stay at Houston where he could simply start over next fall or even switch to a position like WR at which he’d have a better shot at the NFL. The athletic King entered the year as a darkhorse Heisman candidate, but the Cougars have struggled to a 1-3 start under new head coach Dana Holgorsen. Of course, King wouldn’t be the first QB to transfer for his senior season, but does appear to be the first starter to leave his team in mid-season. Stay tuned.
