Giants place QB Jones IR; done for year

Giants place QB Jones IR; done for year … The NY Giants dismal season just a little more dismal as the team has placed QB Daniel Jones on injured reserve with a neck injury meaning that he’s not going to  play again this fall. Jones has missed the last three games with the injury. The team has said that they do not believe the injury will have any long-term impact on Jones, but it is almost certainly a situation they’ll be monitoring closely. It appears that the Giants will have at least one top 5 pick at the 2022 draft and could look at QBs if there are any long-term concerns about Jones health, although, at least at this time, the consensus around the league seems to be that it is not necessarily a great draft year at the position. Of course, the Giants could also decide to go in that direction if they decide that Jones really isn’t their QB of the future. He’s teased at times, but has also been inconsistent, although the fact he hasn’t had much to work with – either up front or at the skills – in his three years with the Giants. In Jones’ absence, the Giants have gone 0-3 with veteran journeyman Mike Glennon filling in, but he’s been downright awful completing barely 50% of his passes in those three starts when he’s often looked lost. Indeed, there’s a really good chance that the Giants will opt to finish the season with rookie Jake Fromm at QB. Fromm was a 5th round pick by Buffalo last April who spent most of the year on the Bills’ practice squad before the Giants claimed him a couple of weeks back. Fromm, though, came off the bench with just over three minutes in Sunday’s loss to Dallas and threw for 82 yards in his one drive. In comparison, Glennon had thrown for all of 99 yards in his 57 minutes.
